Palatal expansion | Information from A to Z

If the upper jaw is too small in relation to the lower jaw, the upper jaw needs to be expanded. The disproportion is sometimes so big that we need to widen the midpalatal suture. For this, both halves of the upper jaw are continuously moved apart by a palatal expander. When the ideal width is reached the position is stabilised.
